Director’s Note:

How does one communicate in totality what it means to live a life? Every feeling, emotion, growth, and memory? You do your best. Theatre often lets us explore certain moments, feelings, and circumstances that we either share in common or show us one we never considered. But to try and boil the universal feeling of living a full life across the boundaries of limited language and gesture is almost absurd. You will always miss something. Some small experience, emotional shift or deeper meaning. Because how could you objectively know someone else’s lived experience? We each bring our own ideas and memories to every moment, that is life. I would like to pose this to you and especially to the theatre makers of now. Will you tell your own story before you can no longer communicate it? Will you let us know what matters to you? Or are you content letting the theatre maker of tomorrow try their best? The Chairs is a Love letter to life itself and the people in our lives who make up even the smallest minutes of our memory. Thank you for being here and experiencing this moment of our lives together
